Has it ever felt like your “ship” has gone astray?

Or your plans and dreams have become washed up or broken?

Take heart! In Acts 27-28 we see Paul is caught in a shipwreck, but God uses it for Good!

30 In an attempt to escape from the ship, the sailors let the lifeboat down into the sea, pretending they were going to lower some anchors from the bow.

31 Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved.”

32 So the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and let it drift away.

35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.

36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.

44 The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely.

From this story, we can see a few truths that will help us get through the shipwreck!

1. Stay Unified

Throw away Plan B if it’s not from God.

Sometimes we need to cut the ropes holding us to the past and head towards the plans of God – even if it’s frightening!

2. Stay Thankful

Give thanks in every situation – for this is the will of Jesus!

Let’s develop a lifestyle of thanksgiving.

This means we don’t decide each day to be thankful or not base on what happens, but our default is to stay thankful.

We cannot change our outer circumstances but we can change our inner response.

3. Use The Broken Parts To Take Your Towards Your Purpose

The sailors would not have made it to their next destination unless they used the pieces from the old ship.

In the same way, God uses our past to make a better future.

Don’t be ashamed of your past or mistakes, let’s give them to God and let our “tests” become our “testimony”.

If you are going through a tough time we are praying with you, and let’s stay close to God and his word.

Let’s have a great Sunday in Church!
