Relationships: Is this the one? -Relationship of Giving to Each Other

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

It’s easy to love someone when you have an emotional attachment to them, isn’t it? And you’re not worried about whether or not you’re going to receive that love in return.

But there are times you might not understand the other person’s feelings, or you get caught up in something new in your life, and your feelings for each other can cool down over time.

Marriage is a relationship in which you are continually giving of yourself to another person.

Do you think your current romantic relationship and feelings of love will lead to a relationship where you and your partner can continually give of each other?

That’s actually a pretty easy thing to determine!

It’s not a matter of whether you think they’ll still be “cool” or “cute” 30 years from now, nor does it really matter how much material wealth they currently possess.

In order to determine the quality of the relationship, you have to ask yourself: “Does my partner understand what it truly means to love someone forever?”
And more importantly, do YOU?

There’s only so much one person can give, right? We’re fairly limited in our natural capacity to love. But I truly believe that when we are connected with a being capable of providing eternal love, we can in turn continue to give that love forever.

That being is God. He loves you. In fact, he’s crazy about you! He loves you with a burning passion that is hotter than the brightest sun, and (unlike the sun) can never be quenched by the passing of time.

No matter what kind of relationship you are in today, you can experience this love. And in turn, you can pass this great love on to that special someone in your life!
