ARISE AND BUILD

Matthew 16:18 MSG

And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.

1.WE HAVE THE GRACE AND AUTHORITY TO BUILD WITH JESUS

Nehemiah 2:18 NKJV

And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work.

2.THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL TO BE ON JESUS’ WINNING TEAM

Nehemiah 2:18 MSG

I told them how God was supporting me and how the king was backing me up. They said, “We’re with you. Let’s get started.” They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.

2.THE DEVIL OPPOSES BUILDING, BUT JESUS’ CHURCH WILL WIN

Nehemiah 2:19-20 MSG

When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they laughed at us, mocking, “Ha! What do you think you’re doing? Do you think you can cross the king?” (20) I shot back, “The God-of-Heaven will make sure we succeed. We’re his servants and we’re going to work, rebuilding. You can keep your nose out of it. You get no say in this—Jerusalem’s none of your business!”

 Nehemiah 4:7-9 MSG

When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairs of the walls of Jerusalem were going so well—that the breaks in the wall were being fixed—they were absolutely furious. They put their heads together and decided to fight against Jerusalem and create as much trouble as they could. We countered with prayer to our God and set a round-the-clock guard against them.

3.WE ALL HAVE A PLACE ON THE DREAM TEAM

 Nehemiah 4:15-18 NIV

When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work. (16) From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah (17) who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, (18) and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

5.THE RESTORATION OF CLEAR TEACHING FROM THE WORD OF GOD WILL ALWAYS BRING LIFT AND WORSHIP

Nehemiah 8:5-6 NIV

Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up. (6) Ezra praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.

6.HEAR THE WORD AND (DON’T GRIEVE ANYMORE) FOR ’THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH’

Nehemiah 8:9-10 NIV

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law. (10) Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
