Peacemaker 4: The Person Who Has Peace

A peacemaker is someone brimming with confidence and peace of mind- who is humble, but not servile.
It might be hard to picture it, but I think there really are people like that- people who bring peace to those around them just by being there. And you and I can become like that kind of person!

So how can someone manage to be so balanced?

I think there are two big reasons for it:

    1. Knowing that you are loved.
    2. Knowing your purpose.

When someone wants to be recognized, they’ll try even harder, and will want to show off their good points. When someone wants to be loved, they might try to become another person, someone wholly different from who they truly are. When we don’t know our purpose, we have the tendency to compare ourselves to others who we might see as superior to us. In those kinds of comparisons, we’re never going to see ourselves as “good enough”.

When we don’t have peace, there’s a war that wages in our hearts. If we allow it to reign unchecked, then rather than becoming a peacemaker, we might very well become a “troublemaker” instead!

There are many things that we as human beings try to use in order to calm that storm in our hearts.

That feeling when you receive a promotion at work, when you’re in a loving relationship with your partner, or when you do well in sports all give you that little boost of happiness.

These are all great things, but ultimately, all the good feelings the world can provide are only temporary. They can’t possibly satisfy us in the long run.

But there is some very good news!
God can provide you with inner peace that will last- because he loves you, and he always will. God has an eternal purpose for your life.

So if God really loves us as he has said he does, and if he has a plan for our lives, how can we receive this promise?

That’s an easy one! Just start a relationship with him. But in order to do that, you’re going to have to step out a bit in faith. There are some things that you can’t see with just your eyes.

Jesus went to the cross in order to save you from eternal death and to calm the storm raging within your heart. And through his resurrection, he is alive and can give you peace if you open your heart to him.

Of course, I’d love for you to know him. Because when you do, he can build an unshakable, eternal peace inside of you. And then, you can truly become a peacemaker.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
